Languages

At Rigby Hall School we believe that learning about a Modern Foreign Language helps our pupils to further develop their language and communication skills, as well as deepening an understanding of another culture and country. Our languages work is differentiated at a level appropriate to the student’s needs and includes the use of Signalong and symbol work to enable all of our students to succeed.  At Rigby Hall School we focus our Language curriculum on the German language, building upon knowledge and skills within the language over time.  Our locality to Birmingam allows for us to explore the German Christmas Market in December and put our knowledge of and skills of the German language to good use.

We hold Language themed afternoons throughout the year for pupils in KS2-KS3 to learn about the language and culture of Germany. These theme days are exciting for the pupils, engaging in food tasting, arts, crafts and music related to the country, as well as learning a few key words associated with Germany's main language.
