Beech is comprised of 10 energetic and lively year 4/5 children. We are very lucky to have Linda as our Teaching Assistant – who remains with the class throughout the week, supporting the class teachers Miss Dowling (Monday – Wednesday) and Mrs Booth (Thursday – Friday).
Beech caters for a variety of learning abilities and follows a differentiated curriculum to meet all needs and challenge each learner to reach their full potential. The curriculum incorporates: Literacy, Mathematics, Computing, PSHE, Science, Creative Arts, Design Technology, Humanities and PE.
The children also enjoy accessing: weekly forest school sessions, a term of swimming lessons, and thoroughly enjoy our half termly themed days and RE mornings.
In Beech we deliver our teaching through themed based learning – this year we will be exploring superheroes, space, mythical creatures, land before time, travel and transport as well as people that help us. In Beech we enjoy real life experiences and hands on learning. We are learning to use our words to express our needs and desires, and are currently developing skills so we can work alongside our peers and interact / socialise in a positive manor.
During most of our lessons in Beech we enjoy taking part in small group curriculum based activities; we are supported to develop our independent skills, confidence and self-belief, and are challenged through personalised learning to develop our academic abilities.
