Post 16

Welcome to Post 16!

In Post 16 at Rigby Hall we aim to get our students ready for life after school. Our curriculum covers a wide range of skills from becoming part of a community to employments skills and from developing our health and well-being to learning valuable life skills. Along every step of the way, we encourage our students to become independent and considerate young people.

Already this year the students have applied for jobs in our community café. The new team run the business every Monday from 1-2.30pm, they serve a selection of sandwiches, homemade soups and cakes. The business has benefitted the staff, the customers and a local charity chosen by the students supporting the homeless community. The students show great enthusiasm for their jobs and we have received very positive comments from our customers.

Our current curriculum includes work on function Maths and English skills which are based predominantly around projects in the community. We also offer the students accredited courses in work skills (Workright or Employability), PSD (Personal, Social Development) and Towards Independence. After the success of last year we continue to offer Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award to our year 12 students. These qualifications are all underpinned by core personal qualities such as independence, resilience, being able to adapt and having good communication skills which form a huge part of our work across all aspects of our curriculum.

As a team, we feel our young people have a huge amount to offer, as staff our aim is support to follow their aspirations and encourage them to believe in themselves!
